Celebrity Big Brother have had to cancel the public poll for this Friday's "double-eviction" after the show's audience were incorrectly informed that they had to ring up to save Shilpa Shetty.

Another poll will be unveiled this evening after a caption under Ms Shetty's name at the finish of yesterday evening's highlights show should have announced to those watching from home to vote to evict her.The channel has called the mistake “human error” and stated that it will give those who have voted already their money back. It has further disclosed that any cash not claimed will be donated to charity, as will the capital from the re-launched vote. The blunder – which is said to have effected thousands of votes – is just another cock-up for the programme after the global race row debate. Those who could get the vote along with the Bollywood actress are Ian ‘H’ Watkins, Jo O’Meara, Cleo Rocos and Dirk Benedict. The makers of the hit production, Endemol, today said sorry to its viewers. It's quoted as saying in the Sun newspaper:“Last night, at the end of Celebrity Big Brother, there was an error in the on-screen information about Friday night's eviction vote in relation to the eviction phone line details for Shilpa,” “While the voice-over was correct and stated "To vote to evict Shilpa" the on-screen text mistakenly read "To vote to save Shilpa.

"This was a genuine mistake which was due to human error.

“We apologise to viewers and feel the best way to rectify it is to cancel the vote so far and re-open the voting again this evening.”

Two inmates will be asked to leave on Friday with the others wrestling it out to be the champion on Sunday evening.
