Big Brother’ contestant Sree has slashed his wrists in a desperate cry for help.
Housemates' welfare is of paramount importance. There is a well established and extensive after-care system in place for all housemates.
The Indian-born student - the fourth person to be voted off the Channel 4 reality TV show - was discovered in his university room in Hertfordshire on Friday morning (24.07.09) and taken to hospital, but discharged later that day.
It has been claimed Sree became upset while watching the show, although he did not make a suicide bid. He was treated for "cuts and lacerations".
A spokesman for the TV channel told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: "Housemates' welfare is of paramount importance. There is a well established and extensive after-care system in place for all housemates.
"Sree continues to be given ongoing support by the production team and regular access to the show's psychologist."
Sree also appeared on ‘Big Brother’ spin-off show ‘Big Brother’s Big Mouth’ on Friday evening, the same day he was admitted to hospital.
Sree was evicted with 85 per cent of the public vote after competing against Freddie (Halfwit).
He became obsessed with Irish beauty Noirin while in the house, but she regularly told other contestants his advances made her feel uncomfortable.
Sree’s struggle since leaving the show is expected to reignite the argument that the current series should be the last. Viewing figures have also been the lowest of any in the 10 series of the programme.
