The 29-year-old beauty is set to return to the show that launched her modelling career in 2006 after signing up as head judge.

She said: "'Britain's Next Top Model is a show very close to my heart as it's where I started my career so I am thrilled to be returning as head judge. We have an incredible team working on this series and I can't wait to bring my own spin to the show. Lifetime viewers should expect more drama and style than ever before, and the girls better be ready to bring their A game!"

Abbey will be joined by top male model Paul Sculfor, fashion director and style guru Hilary Alexander and celebrity photographer Nick Johnston on the revamped show, which was axed by Sky Living in 2013 before being picked up by Lifetime earlier this year.

Director of programming for Lifetime at A+E Networks UK, Koulla Anastasi said: "Abbey is the perfect fit for Lifetime - she's a strong character who has demonstrated immense passion to succeed. We are delighted to announce her role as head judge on Britain's Next Top Model, the show that launched her career."

The new series - which will air on Lifetime in the UK in early 2016 - will focus on aspiring models' personal stories as they attempt to transform themselves from "girls next door" to fashion icons.

It will also incorporate an integrated social media campaign in a bid to encourage viewers to get involved throughout the competition.

Filming is set to take place in the UK and abroad next month.
