Dina Eastwood is just about to launch her new reality show Mrs Eastwood & Company in the UK, so we caught up with her to find out what it's all about.
What sparked your interest in having your own reality show?
I discovered this wonderful singing group called Overtone in South Africa while Clint was there filming "Invictus," and we eventually flew them all over to our home in Carmel, as I felt we could help them become internationally recognized. When they arrived, I had a friend with a video camera follow them around and so much happened within the first week that I decided that we should feature them in a reality show.
You're obviously used to being in front of a camera, how did having the cameras following you around in your daily life differ?
It takes some getting used to, that's for sure. The trick is to ignore them the best you can, be yourself, and live out your life as naturally as possible, given the gang of people surrounding you.
How much control do you have over what gets filmed/shown?
Quite a bit, thankfully. But that doesn't necessarily mean that I edit out stuff that might be unflattering or anything like that. Since my husband did not sign on to do the show, I make certain we respect his wishes and that we show him only when he has agreed to be shown.
How does it fit around your family life?
The camera crew shows up in the morning and stays throughout each day, so they are there for nearly everything. Sometimes they shoot days, sometimes evenings, so that they really get a well-rounded representation of our life. They even followed us to Hawaii for a family holiday.
How do you think it affects the relationship between yourself and your family?
We are who we are, and we react to each other the way we react, so no big changes there. When you see yourself later on film, however, you sometimes think about what you might have said or done differently.
Do you enjoy getting to show the public elements of your life which were previously unseen?
Enjoy is not the right word. I am fine with sharing my family life with the world, if that's what you mean. We don't have big secrets, but we do like to maintain some elements of privacy, of course.
What does Clint think about you having your own show?
He's fine with it.
The show has already been broadcast in the US, how do you think it will do when viewed by a UK audience?
I have no idea, but I certainly hope people will tune in. And that they will check out the band at overtoneband.com. Our band is different from the UK Band of the same name. They are The Overtones. We are Overtone.
What has been your favourite part of filming so far?
The excitement of sharing this wonderful group of performers with the world. That is really my main objective with the show.
Is there anything in particular you'd like to have appear in the show?
If so, you will likely see it, since I am an executive producer on the show.
Finally, what's next for you?
Season Two, hopefully.
Mrs Eastwood & Company premieres on Sunday 1st July at 11pm on E! Entertainment Television (Sky 151 / Virgin 156).
