Dancing With The Stars - This Monday's show unlike last week managed to pack fourteen performances into just two hours as well as a guest judge, director Baz Luhrmann who replaced Len Goodman.
Starting the show were Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough with the jive, the pair turned in a solid sequence, while Joanna looked somewhat uncomfortable at times. Carrie Ann felt that the dance was messy,
Next up Natalie Coughlin danced the quickstep with partner, Alec Mazo. Bruno felt Natlie was too tense but added Natalie held up quite well as well as complimenting her athleticism and speed,
Chuck Liddell and Anna Trebunskaya tango'd.Baz gave him a lot of credit for embracing the tango though he was not impressed with his posture.
Melissa Joan Hart, jived her spot away finnishing strong after last weeks critism, This week her performance was strong, yet light on her feet, an essential for a top jive.
Michael Irvin and Anna Demidova struggled last week, and the choice of the quickstep didn't do Michael any favours, but he improved substantially over last week. His dance tended to be slow and laboured but with the NFL vote he should be safe for a while yet.
Debi Mazar and pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy, are not actually hitting it off Debi ended up in tears, wanting a little less yelling from her partner. But their tango a fiesty dance enabled the pair to express their aggression and they turned in a significantly better sequence this week. Carrie Ann plauded Debi's "drama queen" tendencies as ideal for a tango.
Louie Vito and partner Chelsie Hightower tried a jive to follow on from their good first week. His timing was out he kept loosing the beat and his outfit an oversized baggy jacket made his quick moves look poor.
Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff were standouts last week; this week their quickstep to the theme song from "The Muppet Show" was solid but odd, Aaron wore a ridiculous green suit, raising the question was it a comedy routine.. we didn't know though. Bruno had no such doubts labelling it "spectacular," With a straight set of 9s from the judges said thay all rated the performance highly.
Kelly Osbourne last week's angel seccumbed to the pressure of matching last weeks top performance. Her tango footwork was below par, and as the dance went on Kelly's heart visibly sank.
Kathy Ireland ended in the bottom two last week she and Tony Dovolani needed a first class quickstep this week. unfortunately it just didn't happen, Listless, flat, boring uninspiring, she mus be favorite for elimination after barely escaping last week.
Mark Dacascos and Lacey Schwimmer took on the quickstep hoping to build on last weeks good performance though Mark got off to a bad start falling early in the sequence, credit to him though he recovered nicely and managed some sharp footwork,
Mya's partner Dmitry Chaplin was slated last week for his choreography, so he intended to produce a perfect jive. Mya proved once again that she is a winner and her technically and skilled performance many of the others look clumsey. Mya's three 9s were the girl's highest scores of the night.
Tom DeLay and Cheryl Burke's tango rehearsals were hampered by his foot injury but dance on he did, Tom was obviously in pain, at one stage he almost dropped Cheryl. He's tied with Kathy Ireland for the night's lowest scores, but that will be little comfort for her as he at least had an excuse for a below par performance.
Closing the show Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson. danced the jive, turning in an impressive sequence Kym, choreographed the perfect routine that had him milking the audience and judges alike.
So it's over to the audience to decide who stays and who goes.
