Dancing With the Stars - Season 11 takes to the boards as the celebrity dancers premiered their recently acquired ballroom skills, with varying degrees of success it must be added.
Jennifer Grey, AKA Frances "Baby" Houseman of "Dirty Dancing" fame is expected to produce and Jenni did not disappoint as her Viennese waltz performance was as they say 'on the money'. Although its been a few decades since the 50-year-old actress performed in Dirty Dancing with the late Patrick Swayze (memories of which reduced the star to tears during rehearsals,) she was calm and focused with pro partner and past dance champ Derek Hough to earn the pair a top score of the night - 24.
An unexpected challenger to Grey’s lead, emerged in the shape of 19-year-old Disney channel alum Kyle Massey. With a performance packed with talent, energy and stacks of charisma, such was his performance that his cha-cha-cha was the best of the night.
After that it was to be a 'watch this space' with the remaining ballroom beginners divided into two categories: those who should improve and those who are quite honestly out of their depth.
Possibilities included R&B singer and actress Brandy; ex-L A Laker Rick Fox; former quarterback Kurt Warner; and "The Hills" sexbomb Audrina Patridge. As for the no-hopers, they include Bristol Palin; "Brady Bunch" mum and Florence Henderson; and unfortunately, the lovable but stiff Michael Bolton.
A couple that escaped the above comedian Margaret Cho, "Jersey Shore’s" Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and the one and lets not write off David Hasselhoff, maybe they will still cut it as the show goes on.
