WWE have officially announced that The Viper Randy Orton will go head-to-head with The Beast Brock Lesnar this summer, with the two spartans of the ring facing off at the SummerSlam pay-per-view.
Though the news was set to come on this week's airing of Smackdown, it was pushed back but later revealed on Canada's Sportsnet Aftermath.
Orton was taken out of action in September 2015, sustaining a legitimate shoulder injury which has put him out of action for quite some time. His match against Lesnar will mark his return to the ring.
Meanwhile, despite Lesnar's admission in 2015 that he was "closing the door" on mixed martial arts, UFC announced in June of this year that he would be making his return to that side of his career at UFC 200 on July 9.
WWE confirmed they'd given Lesnar the "one-off opportunity" to compete before he'd return for SummerSlam. Lesnar will face Mark Hunt at the UFC event and, for the first time in his career, he'll be representing Canada.
SummerSlam takes place on August 21 at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
