Pretty Little Liars returned this week with a super-exciting episode, so we've gone back to take a look at some of the most shocking moments in the series' history!

1) Hanna gets hit by a car (Season 1)
'A' proved they were being serious right back in the first season, texting the girls "She knew too much", after running Hanna down, who was on her way to tell her friends exactly who she thought was behind the mysterious identity.
2) Hanna gets in the shower with Caleb (Season 1)
OK so this wasn't THAT shocking, but it certainly was a moment that had everybody's jaw on the floor! The two cemented their feelings for one another with a kiss and the rest is history. Hopefully, one day, the pair will run into one another's arms once more...
3) Mona is 'A' (Season 2)
Some suspected her, but Mona was always one step ahead as part of the 'A-Team'. Despite her evil ways, she has since changed into one of the more rootable characters in the show. Forced to become a part of a world she had no real place in, she's now constantly striving for better things, but her hostility and 'take no prisoners' attitude has certainly had a lasting impact...
4) Toby is revealed to be a member of the 'A-Team' (Season 3)
Show bosses promised a huge reveal in season 3, and it came in the form of Toby's reveal as a member of the 'A-Team'. Though fans around the world held their breath as a black-hooded figure turned around to be revealed as Toby, we would later find out he was only becoming a part of the villainous team to try and help Spencer. The things people do for love...
5) Ezra is revealed to be 'A'... kinda... (Season 4)
OK so this was revealed to be a red herring pretty quickly when Pretty Little Liars returned, but that knot in the stomach the fanbase had for the months in-between seasons was certainly real. Could a second boyfriend from the group of girls really have turned rogue? That's what we all thought. We were roped in yet again only to be tripped up when the show came back.
6) Ezra is shot (Season 4)
An intense season 4 finale saw a lot of drama and Ezra on the receiving end of a bullet. Confronting 'A' in New York, everything looked to finally be going right for the girls, but when Ezra revealed his wound we were left wondering whether or not he would survive for months until the show's return.
7) Aria kills Shana (Season 5)
Threatening to kill all four of the girls, Shana pulled a gun on the group in the huge season 5 premiere. Grabbing the weapon away from Shana, Aria then shoved her, leading to Shana smacking her head and dying on the ground.
8) Mona's 'death' (Season 5)
In the middle of season 5, a major move was pulled when it looked like 'A' had taken things to another level, destroying the Vanderwaal household and viciously murdering Mona. Though we saw her body in the trunk of a car, Mona would later turn out to be alive and well and still to this day continues to flit in and out of the lives of the 'Liars'.
9) Charlotte DiLaurentis is revealed as the leader of the 'A-Team' (Season 6)
Did anyone see this coming? Possibly. But what we didn't see coming was the reveal that Charlotte had been born as Charles, Alison's adopted brother, and gone through surgery to become Charlotte. Seeing a trans character in television is such a thrill, despite this one being a villain. The show handled the matter very well and the story, for the most part, all seemed to make sense. A fantastic reveal that's sure to go down in the history books.
10) Did Alison kill Charlotte? (Season 7)
In the incredible return Pretty Little Liars put on this week, it looked certain that Alison was somehow admitting to killing sister Charlotte DiLaurentis. Lay in her hospital bed, her husband Elliott snarled: "I'm going to make sure you live a long life rotting away in here. I know you killed Charlotte. Just like you Alison, karma can be such a bitch."
