The 'Xtra Factor' is to have a midweek episode.
The ITV talent show's boss Simon Cowell is hoping the new instalment of the 'X Factor's sister show will mirror the success of rival 'Strictly Come Dancing's spin-off programme, 'It Takes Two'.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Simon says he will react to 'Strictly's ratings and this is one way he thinks will improve 'The X Factor.'"
The new show, which is expected to be shown on either Wednesday or Thursday nights on ITV2, will begin at the same time as the live shows.
Meanwhile, the show's hosts Rochelle Humes and Melvin Odoom recently opened up about the "family vibe" of all who work on the show, insisting they felt right at home straight away.
He said: "There's very much a family vibe, everyone's looking out for each other. Rochelle's taking care of me.
"Caroline [Flack] and Olly [Murs] have been really helpful and they've told us how it's worked years before."
Whilst The Saturdays singer added: "It instantly wasn't like 'Oh no this is a new job and you don't know anyone' and 'We've got to go and interview some judges'. It was like 'Grimmy [judge Nick Grimshaw], you're coming over here.'"
