Will Mellor wants to find a new home for 'Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps'.
The 47-year-old actor - who played mechanic Gaz Wilkinson on the classic BBC comedy alongside Ralf Little, Sheridan Smith, Natalie Casey and Kathryn Drysdale - is keen for the show to make a comeback but bosses at the Beeb have turned down the idea.
Revealing his hopes another channel might take him up on the idea, he told OK! magazine: "The BBC turned it down, but I’d love to see what Gaz and Jonny are up to now. I’m here and I’ve said I’ll do it if we can get the funding."
Susan Nickson - who created the sitcom, which ran from 2001 to 2011 - has already penned a script called 'Two Pints - Last Orders'.
And Will has pointed to the show's focus on highlighting "the working class" as another reason for a potential return.
He added: "We were representing people that weren’t being represented – the working class who just play pool, chat about life and have a few beers.
"And it’s really nostalgic, which is big at the moment. People love to reminisce about it.
"It was on for 10 years and a lot of people were on that journey with us."
He has stayed close to former co-star Ralf - who played Jonny in the show - and they still work together on the 'Two Pints With Will And Ralf' podcast.
Will said: "We disagree on things and we’re very different people, but he makes me laugh and I make him laugh, so our friendship just works.
"We still really enjoy each other’s company."
Meanwhile, Will is poised for a 'Coronation Street' comeback in the upcoming New Year's episode after being last seen on the cobbles at the end of 2022.
