will.i.am is still "fighting" for Leah McFall - last year's The Voice runner-up - to be a success story.
The former Black Eyed Peas singer is still working with the 24-year-old star, who finished second in the singing competition last year, and insists he is committed to helping her become a hit artist.
He said: "I'm still fighting for a singer that was on my team in season two! We've just finished her record, I'm still coaching and we're in season three.
"When I said, 'I'll fight for you, Leah, be on my team I meant it.' She came on tour with me; she came to Los Angeles to record a whole album. We finished it officially last week."
The 38-year-old coach hopes the other judges - Sir Tom Jones and newcomers Kylie Minogue and Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson - will keep the promises they make to their contestants.
He added: "When you're working with singers, you promise them all the things you promise them and I know they're not just BS-ing, they're not saying it for the show's sake.
"I know they mean it. I could see it. We're looking at the artist the way we wish the record industry looked at us as artists."
The '#thatPOWER' hitmaker believes 'The Voice' is an important platform for talent because it can give wannabes the belief that a music career is within their reach.
He said: "We want people who take our passion seriously, for this brief little moment in time in their career on 'The Voice', even if it's just for television. Seeing singers through, encouraging them ... that little bit of encouragement goes a long, long way. That little nugget of knowledge [helps]."
