The former 'Love Island' contestant has revealed that he is "married to music" and is happy to stay single as he looks to forge a career as an artist.

Wes, who has had relationships with former Islanders Megan Barton-Hanson and Arabella Chi, told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Music is my love now. I am married to music.

"All my energy and focus is towards my career."

Wes competed on the ITV show in 2018 and subsequently appeared on 'Dancing on Ice' and 'The X Factor: Celebrity' and confessed that the reality TV tag has hindered his bid to become a music star.

The 23-year-old star, who has teamed up with Clean Bandit for their new song 'Drive', said: “It’s annoying because everyone has done something else before becoming a successful artist.

"Some have stacked shelves or sold cars. The difference is that they don’t get judged on that like you do when you’ve come from a reality show."

Wes has recorded over 100 songs and is planning to release an album next year as he is determined to become a star across the globe.

He said: “I knew I wouldn’t get respect as an artist overnight and I knew I would have to work hard to change people’s perception of me.

"There is pressure because of the stigma, but you have to believe in yourself no matter what people say, and that’s what I’ve done."

Wes also revealed that he has missed 'Love Island' for the first time this year as he has been preoccupied with music.

He said: "I haven’t watched it this year as I’ve been too busy.

"It’s the first year I’ve not watched it and I feel like it’s too late to jump in now.”
