Joel Dommett wants to be like Ant and Dec.
The 37-year-old star has enjoyed hosting stints on shows such as 'The Masked Singer' and 'In With a Shout' in recent years and explained that he "looks up" to the Geordie presenting duo, both 47, along with 'This Morning' host Dermot O'Leary because they have all managed to achieve longevity in the television industry.
He told The Daily Mirror newspaper: "The really hard part is longevity. Getting on TV is really difficult. And doing shows that you really love and enjoy is really hard. But to stay in that place for the next 30 years is even harder. I think that’s why I look up so much to people like Ant and Dec and Dermot [O’Leary] and all those people who have done it so well for so long."
The 'Survivor' host has previously worked alongside Ant and Dec - who shot to fame as PJ and Duncan on 'Byker Grove' in the early 1990s and these days front the likes of 'Britain's Got Talent' and 'Saturday Night Takeaway' on rotation - when he came runner up to 'Gogglebox' star Scarlett Moffatt on their ITV1 jungle series 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here' in 2016 and was so enamored with the TV legends that he eventually had their names tattooed onto the back of his legs.
In 2019, Joel shared a backstage snap of himself with Dec with a crestfallen-looking Ant sat by himself in the background.
He captioned the post: "When you see your best friend hanging out with the new boy in school"(sic), but later posted a selfie of the three of them together as Ant joined them for a photo.
