'Walk the Line' bosses have launched an investigation after 100 chocolate mousses went missing from the set.
The sweet treats were available to the new game show's judges Gary Barlow, Dawn French, Craig David and Alesha Dixon, as well as host Maya Jama, and producers tried to track down the missing desserts by sending an email around to crew members to urge someone to come forward.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper's TV Biz column: "Behind the scenes there was some super sleuthing going on which would rival an Agatha Christie novel.
"But the offenders have yet to be tracked down.
"It wasn’t so much the loss of the chocolate mousses, but the principle of them being pinched - and the bizarre fact that a hundred of them had gone missing and no one noticed them being removed."
The show, which could see contestants win up to £500,000, is executive produced by Simon Cowell and will be broadcast over six consecutive nights next week.
Simon recently explained he isn't taking on a judging role because he is keen to focus on his behind-the-scenes commitments.
He said: "This is a situation where I have decided it is right for me to focus on my role as the Creator and Producer as we build up to the hugely exciting launch.
"Gary’s musical pedigree is second to none – and we have known each other a long time now - so I am delighted he is picking up the baton for me for the first series of 'Walk The Line'. I know he will do a fantastic job."
Gary - who was a judge on 'The X Factor' between 2011 and 2013 - is "so excited" about his new job.
He said: "When Simon calls it’s usually with something fairly extraordinary.
“I’m so excited to be involved in a brand-new TV show, and of course my favourite part of 'Walk the Line' is discovering new talent.”
