'Postman Pat' voice actor Ken Barrie has died.
The singer - who was known for voicing the popular mailman and various other characters in the show during the 80s - has passed away at his home in Uxbridge, London, aged 83 following a short battle with cancer.
Ken's daughter Lorraine Hulme Peterson had nothing but praise for her father and his incredible talents as she confirmed his tragic death to the BBC on Friday (29.07.16).
She said: "He was a master of different character voices. He wasn't keen on being bombarded for autographs, it was lovely to see when children realised who he was".
"He'd do the voice and they'd be gobsmacked."
Ken - who also voiced handyman Ted Glen, the Reverend Peter Timms and farmer Alf Thompson in the children's programme - joined the show in 1981 and voiced the iconic postman throughout the first series.
He revived his role as the friendly mailman over a decade later when the series was resurrected in the 90s.
Ken also sang the show's theme tune, which spent 15 week in the charts after being released as a single.
Meanwhile, his talent didn't just stop there as he also appeared on an album with Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby.
He also provided backing vocals for David Essex on 'Top of the Pops' and was part of Peter Kay's Animated All Star Band for the BBC Children in Need Medley in 2009.
