Vicky McClure will "always work".
The 'Line of Duty' star enjoys having something to keep busy and would never assume herself to be comfortable enough not to find ways to make money, even if that doesn't involve acting.
She said: "I'll always work. If I couldn't act, I'd find another job. We all have to work - there is no pot of gold, there's no estate waiting for me! And also I think there's a real sense [that] I enjoy work.
"I think the assumption that we [actors] are all loaded and swanning about, making films all the time, is just wrong.
"My dad's always been, like, 'Make sure you save'. You need money. And if you haven't got it, you'll really struggle. And if you have got it, you need to look after it because if you lose it, you're f***ed."
At the moment, when she does get a break between jobs, the 35-year-old actress - who famously also worked in a surveyors' office during the eight years she appeared in 'This Is England' - has enjoyed taking on various DIY projects in the Nottingham home she shares with fiance Jonny Owen.
Discussing recently paining the "quite scuffed" seating area in her kitchen, she told You magazine: "I ordered some [white] gloss on Amazon. When it came, it was black!'
"I just went ahead and painted it anyway. I did that thing where I was, like, "Maybe it was fate? Like, everybody's going for dark paint these days...'
"It's not bad. And then when you've got cushions on it, it's a bit better. So, yeah, I'm doing a bit of DIY. This is what you do when you're unemployed. It's great!"
