Vanessa Hudgens has been announced as one of the lead characters in NBC's new DC Comics-based comedy pilot Powerless, a show which has not yet been picked up for a full series but is looking likely to get its full run.
In a world full of heroes and villains, Hudgens will play insurance claims adjuster Emily Locke. Keeping to herself and helping others throughout her job, she becomes irritated by the superhumans in her city and thinks it's time for a career change.
The casting announcement comes after Marvel revealed it was developing its own superhero comedy series called Damage Control, focusing on a team who have to clean up the messes superhero battles leaves behind.
After receiving fantastic reviews for her role as Rizzo in Grease Live!, this will be Hudgens first series regular role and could really break her into the world of small screen acting.
Ben Queen wrote the show and will executive produce alongside Michael Patrick Jann, who'll direct the pilot episode.
