Tyla Rosie Carr has never watched ‘Love Island’.
The reality star, 29 first found fame by appearing on the third series of ITV2’s hit dating series in 2017, and despite her career getting a lift off from the show, she doesn't like to tune in to see the goings on in the villa.
Speaking at the ‘Rise of the Footsoldier: The Extreme Edition’ screening at London’s Leicester Square on Tuesday night (31.01.23), she exclusively told BANG Showbiz: “One thing people probably don’t know about me is I’ve never ever watched ‘Love Island’.
"I’ve never watched my own series back. I am a fan but I used to be more of a fan back then, than I am now. I think people used to be a bit more real when I was going in.
“I’ve never really fitted into the whole ‘Love Island’ contestant, because I’m a homey person. I like being around my family and I don’t think I need to live up to anything.”
The model mum, who co-parents young son Archie with her ex-boyfriend Rossco Edmonds, believes the show has become "less about finding love" than it used to be.
She added: “Everyone goes in knowing they’ll get a career out of it and will do well out of it and it's become less about finding love.”
Despite finding fame from appearing on the programme, Tyla has remained grounded.
She said: “My life has changed massively since appearing on 'Love Island', it’s made me feel more confident about myself. It’s helped me be a better mum for Archie. I don’t have to go to work everyday. I can do my Instagram from home.
“It’s so important to stay real, especially for my son, so that I’m a good role model for Archie and for your sanity.
“Unless you’re real you’ll never be truly happy, that’s something I found. The un-f***withable side of me.”
