Trisha Goddard was "apprehensive" about her daughter taking part in 'The Bridge'.
Billie Goddard has signed up to appear on Channel 4's reality show - which sees 12 strangers teaming up to build a bridge in the countryside for a £100,000 prize - revealed her famous mum wasn't immediately sold on the idea.
Billie - who has battled alcohol and drug addiction in the past - told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "Mum is apprehensive, but also encouraging.
"She’s nervous about reality shows in general, but she is supportive and understands I’m in a bit of a rut in life.
“I don’t really care what people think of me because I’m happy with who I am and how far I’ve come. My biggest concern is it could reflect on my mum. But, apart from that it’s a new experience.”
Trisha's eldest child has battled addiction from the age of 12, and was later diagnosed with PTSD and borderline personality disorder.
'The Bridge' starts on Sunday (11.10.20), and Billie, now 30, has revealed her plans to use the prize money to help people struggling with similar issues.
She added: "The most fulfilling stuff I’ve done in the last three or four years is supporting those going through drug and alcohol recovery.
"I’d want to use the money to support those going through things I’ve been through in the past.”
Billie has been very candid about her personal issues in the past, and she insisted anyone in a similar position should seek help.
She previously said: "Asking for help can seem impossible, but it really is possible to change your life and be happy.
"I still have a lot of work to do but I’m immensely proud of my progress.”
