The soap star - who appeared on the BBC show as Chrissie Watts from 2004 to 2005 - has been abused on Twitter after speaking out on anti-Semitism in the Labour party, and she admitted some people even want her fired from her old job.

She told the Metro newspaper: "Oh my God, of course! Funnily enough, I still get that with online trolls. There was a time when they tried to get me sacked from 'EastEnders'. I haven't been in it for 15 years but, hey, whatever."

The 53-year-old actress has joined 'Countdown' presenter Rachel Riley to take legal action against 70 people for libel in response to the abuse they have directed at the famous pair on Twitter.

Tracy - who has been subjected to terrible anti-Semitism online due to her Jewish heritage - found hope despite the abuse with her own podcast, 'Trolled'.

When asked how the public have responded to the podcast, she replied: "I've had such incredible feedback. I get handwritten letters and cards and tweets from people who enjoyed it. I think people have found it very empowering and cathartic to be able to talk about it.

"Everybody I had on my podcast was championing a different cause and every single one of us had exactly the same sort of trolls. So it is less to do with the issue and more to do with the type of person who wants to abuse someone they disagree with."
