Torchwood is making a big comeback with John Barrowman back in the lead role of Captain Jack in a series of new Big Finish audio dramas.
Released from September onwards, six adventures are to be released, each focusing on a different member of the Torchwood team and exploring the impact a mysterious event has on each of them.
'The Conspiracy' is the title of the first audio drama with Captain Jack at the heart of the drama. Each month from January of the year after will then see a new drama follow.
Creator Russell T Davies said of reviving the Doctor Who spin-off with Big Finish: "Torchwood has been to the Moon, and America, and the Himalayas, but now I think it's finally coming home, to the brilliance of Big Finish."
Nicholas Briggs, executive producer added: "Torchwood is something we've wanted to do for ages. It has great characters and there are many stories to be told. Our mission is to bring a whole new series of dramatic adventures to life.
"We're starting off with these more intimate, focused released and will then move on to bigger casts and even wider scope. We're very much looking forward to working with all the cast and it's been such a pleasure liaising with Russell T Davies about this.
"He couldn't have been more supportive and helpful. Our Torchwood producer, James Goss, has really hit the ground running and his tangible entusiasm is already proving rather an inspiration to us."
Torchwood debuted in 2006, running for four controversial series with Eve Myles joining Barrowman for the show's run.
