New presenter Chris Evans is determined to make the relaunch of the BBC motoring series as exciting as possible and wants to create a "buzz" similar to that of his much loved chat show 'TFI Friday', that ran from 1996 to 2000 on Channel 4.
An insider shared: "Chris thinks his specialty is as a live broadcaster. He always loved the buzz of 'TFI Friday' going out live and likes the idea of bringing that to Top Gear."
The flame-haired presenter - who was hired to replace Jeremy Clarkson after he was sacked for punching a producer in a row over a steak - previously revealed he was keen to have a female co-host but will only hire real car enthusiasts.
The BBC's Formula 1 presenter Suzi Perry is the bookies' favourite for the job and Chris has reportedly approached her with the idea of being a roaming reporter.
The insider said: "Chris is a massive fan. There are discussions about her doing live broadcasts from F1 locations."
And Chris, 49, is toying with the idea of including a contributor segment to the show with the use of motoring experts and has eyed up Scottish racer Susie Wolff, 32, and Australian driver Mark Webber, 39.
The source told The Sun newspaper: "Chris loves the idea of using experts."
