The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has revealed that show is moving towards the events that happen in the comic books 200th edition slowly but surely, admitting that it’ll probably be around the series’ 12th season.
Speaking to a fan, Kirkman said: “It took us 6 seasons to get to 100, it won’t take us 6 years to get to 200 and that will take us to season… TWELVE. And we’ll still be ahead of the show at that point.”
Unlike its fellow hugely-successful series Game of Thrones, Kirkman seems to be showing no signs of worry about The Walking Dead’s small screen adaptation catching up with the comic book universe.
There is however always the chance that the show could be cancelled before it even gets to season 12. At this point, we’re halfway through season 7 and viewers have been leaving the show in their droves since the season 7 premiere episode.
Despite that, an eighth season has already been commissioned, and fan-favourite character Negan will be moving through into those episodes after actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan confirmed the news.
The Walking Dead returns in February on the 12th in the US and the 13th in the UK.
