The Walking Dead has in the past garnered some incredible ratings on AMC, blowing all competition out of the water and debuting to strong numbers when it first premiered all the way back in 2010.
As one of the biggest hits on television, it has a fantastic track record and many thought it could do no wrong - however it looks as if the show's streak has now come to an end.
With the seventh season currently airing, the season started strong with viewers eager to find out whose life would be taken by new villain Negan (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan).
Bringing the series its second-highest ratings to-date, The Walking Dead looked set to continue on with its fantastic ratings, but since that episode, the series has had ratings drop with every episode thereafter.
Last Sunday's episode 'Swear' hit a four-year low, with 10.9 million viewers and a 4.9 demographic reported. Though they may not immediately appear low, when they're compared to the premiere's rating of 17.03 million viewers, a significant loss can be seen.
Of course, the show is still technically a success, with competitors in the same slot not coming close. The Nielsen Company report that the closest was Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta, which drew in 2.5 million ahead of HBO's Westworld, which took just over 2 million.
Many have been critical of the episodes since the season 7 premiere, calling the show 'boring' and saying it lacks imagination. Why do you think the ratings have plunged? Let us know in the comments section below.
The Walking Dead continues Sundays on AMC in the US and Mondays on FOX in the UK.
