When fans were first introduced to the relationship shared between Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) in The Walking Dead, they were surprised, but excited. Now christened ‘Richonne’, the pair work together and help one another through the hugely traumatic events that are taking place while the zombie apocalypse continues to take hold.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Lincoln said he thinks the relationship between Rick and Michonne is the real deal and could lead to the pair having children down the line. He explained: “I think the whole point is to start again and to restart and it’s about the future, and it’s obviously the next generation and, as far as we can tell, we’re outnumbered undead to human a lot. It is about repopulating the world. I think that they make a terrific couple and I don’t think he would hesitate. Also, maybe in a couple of episodes’ time, there may be a jump ahead in the curve and maybe setting themselves to that job at hand.”

With Season 7 about to return for its second half of new episodes, Rick and Michonne are going to be central to the story and in bringing everybody together to rebuild and take on Negan and his villainous army of Saviors. There are going to be some big decisions and game-changing actions taking place over the next few episodes, and it’s likely Rick and Michonne are the two that are going to have to make the choices of where to go next.

Of course, bringing children into the zombie-infested world has to be an incredibly tricky thing, especially going off of what we’ve seen so far. Lori was killed whilst in childbirth, while Maggie has gone through some horrific events, including the murder of her baby’s father Glenn right in front of her eyes.

Any baby plans of course will have to be put on hold while the group of survivors deal with their Negan problem. Making babies is probably pretty low on Rick and Michonne’s priority list moving into the second half of Season 7…

The Walking Dead returns tonight (February 12) to AMC in the US, and follows in the UK on FOX tomorrow (February 13).
