The Super Bowl LVI didn't just play host to one of the most closely-fought matchups of all time, and a Halftime Show worth watching on repeat, but of course a bunch of ads and teasers that had the jaws of the millions watching dropping to the floor.

One of those trailers shown was for upcoming Prime Video series The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power, showcasing for the first time, some of the drama and action fans of the J.R.R. Tolkein franchise should expect when the show makes its debut in September 2022.

The 60-second teaser unveiled the immense saga that Amazon Studios have been working on, with showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay on board for what should be a fantasy epic unlike any other.

For the very first time, the fabled Second Age will be brought to the screen, with the spotlight firmly set on the heroic legends that cemented their place in Middle-earth's history.

Taking place thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings, viewers will be taken back to an era in which great powers were forged, whilst kingdoms rose to prominence and others fell to ruin.

Though we will start this new journey at a time of relative peace, the series will follow an ensemble cast of characters who must confront the reemergence of evil in Middle-earth, traversing landscapes including the Misty Mountains, the elf capital of Lindon and the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor.

Executive producer Wayne Che Yip directs the series, alongside J.A. Bayona and Charlotte Brändström.
