The 33-year-old actor - who plays David Tanaka in 'Neighbours' - is delighted that their characters, Brent Colefax and Emmett Donaldson, have returned to the long-running soap, and although it's something he's always suspected would happen, he "didn’t know how".

Takaya shared: "Texas Watterston and Ezra Justin bring such amazing performances to the screen that even before they had finished their first stint we knew that they would be coming back, we just didn’t know how."

Takaya admitted the duo made a great impression on the cast during their first stint, saying they are "such brilliant young talents to work with".

And the actor is convinced the storyline involving his character and Aaron Brennan, played by Matt Wilson, is bound to keep the show's audience entertained.

He told RadioTimes.com: "I think that the dynamic that Emmett and Brent bring to the David and Aaron storyline is something the audience loves seeing and also shakes up the balance of things in a really great way.

"David and Aaron are such caring people that when faced with two kids in a hard spot they are going to do whatever they can to help them, no matter the circumstances they are in."

Takaya previously hinted that 2021 will be a major year for his on-screen character.

Hinting at what's to come over the next few months, he explained: "Big things are happening in 2021 for David, I’m not sure he will be finishing the year the same person he started as."
