Susannah Constantine is an alcoholic.
The 58-year-old TV presenter has been in recovery for nearly seven years and admitted she felt an "immense" feeling of relief when she realised she had an issue with drink.
She said: "It’s not something I’ve spoken about before really, but it’s important. I’m in recovery, so I’m an alcoholic.
"I’ve been in recovery for nearly seven years.
"It was so liberating. I felt a lot of shame most of the time. But when I realised, the relief was immense."
The former 'Strictly Come Dancing' contestant used to think her businessman husband Sten Bertelsen - who she has children, Joe, 21, Esme, 19, and Cece, 16, with - was being "passive-aggressive", before realising she was "the one" acting that way.
Speaking on podcast 'My Mate Bought A Toaster', she added: "As an addict, I would get all my own defects and find someone else to attach them to.
"I thought my husband was passive-aggressive, but actually I was the one.
"I was the angry passive-aggressive and my poor husband had to live with it."
Susannah shot to fame on makeover series 'What Not to Wear' alongside her co-host Trinny Woodall in the early Noughties.
Trinny, 56, has also battled alcohol addiction, and previously entered rehab, but she has now been sober for nearly 30 years.
Reflecting on her past alcohol issues in 2009, she said: "It's so difficult to know exactly why. My grandfather was an alcoholic; my uncle was an alcoholic, so I can definitely see the physical addiction through the generations.
"It's probably a mixture of growing up and taking things from my upbringing that made me feel insecure and the kind of person I already was when I was born ... once you're in the throes of addiction I don't think it matters what the substance is."
