The 50-year-old TV presenter has revealed the private conversations she had with Derek - who was put into an induced coma last year after being diagnosed with coronavirus - during Kate's time on 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!' in 2019, and Susanna insists he'd be proud of how she's coping with the stresses of his health struggle.

Speaking after Kate's documentary about Derek's COVID battle aired on ITV, Susanna explained: "He burst with pride about Kate, he is so proud of her. He would be so proud of her now, doing what she's doing and this documentary."

Kate, 53, made the heart-breaking documentary to shine a light on the impact of so-called long COVID and other types of chronic illness.

And Susanna has been wowed by how "together" Kate has been over recent months.

She said on 'Good Morning Britain': "There is an element of chaos, but watching the documentary she's so together.

"When you think she's juggling all of those jobs and also having to talk to medics all of the time about her husband...

"The way she and her children involved Derek in their family life still, via FaceTime, she makes time for everything."

Former 'GMB' co-host Piers Morgan took to Twitter to praise Kate, and admitted he found the documentary "heart-breaking".

He wrote: "This is heart-breaking. [Broken heart emoji] #FindingDerek @kategarraway (sic)"

And he also posted a quote from the late Nelson Mandela, which read: "It always seems impossible until it's done."

He added: "Love you @kategarraway"

Derek, 53 - who has Darcey, 15, and Billy, 11, with the TV presenter - has spent almost a year in intensive care, after COVID caused his liver, kidneys and heart to fail.
