The former 'Les Miserables' star has admitted it's an "honour" to compete in the singing competition on behalf of the country after she fought off stiff competition from five other acts to win over the public and an expert jury panel with her song 'Storm'.

She said: "I can't believe this is happening, it's absolutely amazing.

"It's such an honour to have the opportunity to represent a country I'm very, very proud of and that I know I can do good things in Lisbon for. Thank you to everyone who voted and supported me. This is amazing."

This isn't the first time SuRie - whose real name is Susanna Cork - has been involved in the major competition as she acted as a backing dancer for the Belgian act Loic Nottet in 2015, but has admitted it has "always" been a dream to represent the UK.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, she said: "Yes, in 2015, I was the girl on the floor kicking her legs up in the air like a dead beetle.

"We did a lot of rehearsals and a lot of gym to get the core workouts so that we could be upside down holding those notes.

"It was a little dream to represent the UK but it was not something that I thought was possible. As soon as I went to Vienna and saw 'Eurovision' it blew my mind."

She's also sung backing vocals for Coldplay's Chris Martin and Will Young.

The 'Eurovision Song Contest' will take place in Portugal on May 12.
