Suranne Jones won't watch herself in 'Gentleman Jack' because it reminds her of the passing of her father.
The 43-year-old actress lost her parent to COVID in January 2021 while filming the second season of the hit BBC period drama, and she doesn't want to be reminded of the painful time in her life.
The 'Doctor Foster' star - who plays Anne Lister - also revealed she struggled to remember her lines as she grappled with grief.
Speaking to The Sunday Times Magazine, she said: “You're filming in a pandemic, everyone is wearing masks. Every two days you've got someone coming in to test you.
“To have a parent pass of the thing that you are reminded of all the time … Your brain filters out stuff, so I couldn't remember my lines.
“Most of the time I was going, 'What is it? What am I saying?' That will probably haunt all the crew. My brain was obviously going, 'This is not important.'”
In a previous interview, Suranne admitted she found it hard to adjust to real life after her dad's passing and struggled to get back into a normal routine because of her anxiety.
She said: “I suffer with anxiety anyway. I didn’t know what the right thing to do was. When you are on set... and this still applies, the restrictions are really in place.
“It is quite scary. All my jobs got concertinaed. Because of COVID. And my dad passing ... I was away a lot."
