Sue Perkins has quit social media platform Twitter after receiving a score of death threats following reports she was in the running to take the presenter's job left open by Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear.
The 45-year-old TV star has signed off of the social media website, due to a barrage of threats after she became the bookies' favourite to replace sacked Jeremy Clarkson on the BBC motoring show.
Sue tweeted: "Guys, post the utterly fabricated story about me & Top Gear, my timeline has been full of blokes wishing me dead ... This morning, someone suggested they'd like to see me burn to death. All of which goes to say that I am off Twitter for a bit. Love and peace x (sic)"
Long-term host Clarkson was axed following a booze-fuelled fracas with a TV producer in a hotel, and the 'Great British Bake Off' host quickly became odds-on favourite to replace Jeremy, followed by Dermot O'Leary - who recently left 'The X Factor' after 10 years - and Jodie Kidd.
Being a big motor racing fan, and holding the record for the fastest celebrity lap in the 'Top Gear' feature, 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car' Jodie has previously admitted she would be up for the presenting job.
The 36-year-old beauty said: "Why not? Yes! I'm sure we can get two people to sign a petition."
