Sue Johnston of The Royle Family and Coronation Street is to join the cast of the fifth series of Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning drama Downton Abbey.
Character details reveal that she'll play Denker, Lady's Maid to Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham.
She'll join guest actors Richard E. Grant, Ana Chancellor and Rade Sherbedgia, as well as Peter Egan returning as Lord Flintshire and Dame Harriet Walter in the role of Lady Shackleton.
Downton Abbey returns in the autumn and again at Christmas for a feature length episode. More information on the series is expected to follow in the coming weeks and months.
