Sara Davies' husband is loving her newfound stamina

The 37-year-old businesswoman and her pro dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec, 31, were eliminated from the BBC Latin and ballroom show last month.

And the 'Dragon's Den' star has revealed how the vigour she has since the rigorous training for 'Strictly' has worked wonders for her marriage.

Sara - who has Oliver, six, and Charlie, three, with her spouse and business partner Simon, 41 - told The Sun newspaper's Fabulous magazine in her first cover interview: “Simon is not a complimentary person. He’s the one who keeps my feet on the ground. While everyone else is telling me how awesome I am, he won’t overdo it.”

The entrepreneur was hoping Aljaž would be her partner to avoid any gossip about the dreaded 'Strictly Curse' - the name used to describe romances between dancers and their celebrity partners - as his wife Janette Manrara used to be a pro as well.

Asked how her other half is finding his spouse's stamina she built up on the show, she replied: “Trust me, he’s loving life…

“I said I would only want Aljaž as my partner – and the Curse was one of the biggest reasons for that.

"They never talk about the 'Strictly Curse' in relation to him and his partners, and maybe that’s because of Janette [Manrara, Aljaž’s wife who also used to be a pro dancer on the show].

“It was never going to apply to me because of how much I love my husband, but I didn’t want it being talked about.

"We’ve been together forever and our relationship is built on trust and fidelity, so it would never be an issue."

Sara also revealed that her father Frank, who was a ballroom dancer, told her she was too "overweight" and had "no musicality" when she told him she was going on the show.

She said: “When I said I was doing Strictly, my dad, who is Frank by name, frank by nature, said: ‘You’re just not good enough, kid – you’re overweight, you’ve got no musicality, you’ve got two left feet, you can’t move your body.’”

However, he got "choked up" when his daughter ended up impressing the judges.

On his reaction to her show-stopping performances, she said: “He couldn’t believe it. He was choked up watching me dance. People always say you should do things for yourself, but I want to make my parents [Frank and her mum Susan, 59] proud."
