Amy Dowden says the "finish line is in sight" as she prepares to complete her cancer treatment

Amy Dowden was able to keep her cancer treatment on track
The 33-year-old 'Strictly Come Dancing' star was diagnosed with breast cancer in May and she has since been undergoing chemotherapy treatment, but she was worried her latest session might have to be delayed because doctors feared she might not be well enough to go ahead with it.
However, Amy has since revealed she got the go ahead and now only has one appointment left until she gets to ring the bell which symbolises the end of her chemo sessions. In a post on Instagram she shared a picture with a friend who is also having treatment, and wrote: “Yayyyyy my blood platelets were all good to go for chemo 7 and it was lovely @kiimmbo.6 7th too (a fellow pink sister on a similar journey) for us both next session we should be ringing that chemo bell and I simply cannot wait!
“So good to chat again today all things chemo and breast cancer. The finish line is in sight for us lovely.
“Thanks as always to the incredible Sheldon Unit who always go above and beyond to make us comfortable and happy as can be!
“Right I'm on the sofa resting up. thanks all for crossing everything and for all your well wishes! #welshlove amy xxx.”
Amy underwent a single mastectomy when she was diagnosed with the disease earlier this year and has been unable to compete on this year’s edition of the BBC One Latin and Ballroom competition.
She recently revealed she “knew” before she went on her honeymoon with her husband Ben Jones that she had a tumour but didn’t say so to not spoil the post-nuptial holiday.
She said while appearing on ‘Loose Women’: “I knew. My mum had breast cancer but hers was picked up in a mammogram and she didn't feel it, it was picked up on her first mammogram.
“I didn't tell my husband Ben. I went on the honeymoon and every day you're putting sun tan lotion on and I could feel it. I just had this gut feeling.
“Well, he wouldn't have gone on the honeymoon! And I really wanted this honeymoon, for a break … What could we have done?'”
