Claire Richards has been unveiled as Knitting on 'The Masked Singer.'
The 45-year-old pop star - who shot to fame in 1997 as part of dance group Steps along with Faye Tozer, Lee Latchford Evans, Lisa Scott Lee, and Ian 'H' Watkins and continues to enjoy massive success with them today - had been taking part in the ITV competition in which celebrities conceal their identities and perform pop hits but narrowly missed out on a place in the final being voted out on Saturday night's (04.02.23), where she admitted she was "chuffed" to have made it so far.
After removing her mask, she said: "I thought you were gonna get me from day one. So on the first show when you didn't have a clue, I was so chuffed!"
The former 'Celebrity Big Brother' star - who is married to Reece Hill and has Charlie, 15, and 12-year-old Daisy with him - went on to admit that she is a "massive fan" of the show and hopes that her children will be "surprised" with the revelation.
Speaking to host Joel Dommett, she said: "I put a lot of thought into it because I am actually a massive, massive fan of this show. I feel like a fan who has won a competition. I hope my kids are going to be surprised and happy, but my son might be a little bit mortified!"
Judges Davina McCall and Stephen Mulhern correctly guessed Claire was underneath the costume, whilst Jonathan Ross joked that it could be Claire's bandmate H.
'Anywhere' singer Rita Ora believed it could be her other co-star Faye Tozer, whilst Mo Gilligan thought it was Hear'Say star Suzanne Shaw.
Throughout the competition, nods to Claire's pop career as clues included a shot of a church to reflect where she filmed the music video for best-selling single 'Tragedy', as well as being seen with a magpie as a nod to Steps' 1998 hit 'One For Sorrow'
Following her elimination, the 'Chain Reaction' hitmaker gave her first unmasked performance of Anastacia song 'Left Outside Alone' before leaving the show for the finale time.
