Fans of Arrow who have been waiting to see whether or not Oliver Queen will ever discover he is a father may now have their answer, with the actor telling Screen Rant he thinks it's definitely something that's going to play into the series' story going forward.

Going back to season three during The Flash crossover episode 'Flash Vs Arrow', viewers saw Oliver (Stephen Amell) bump into an old flame (Anna Hopkins) in Central City, nameless but recognisable as the one paid $2 million by Moira to leave Central City forever.

Chatting about how Oliver could and should meet his son in the future, Amell says "Me personally being a dad, I would love to see how Oliver interacts with having a kid. Obviously, it would be a different experience from that experience, but I think that storyline deserves further attention.

"One of the big tenants of Greg Berlanti is you don't introduce something to the audience, you don't tease it if you are not going to follow through with it [in] some shape or form. So I think it's a safe bet that Oliver will find out about his child at some point."

The DC Comics universe sees Connor Hawke - Green Arrow's son - meet his father when he's fully grown, with neither knowing that they're related and the pair eventually partnering up, Connor serving as Oliver's sidekick.

When the big reveal does come, Oliver's angry that he's the last person to find out about his child, and so boldly accepts a dangerous mission to infiltrate a group of eco-terrorists. Killed in that very mission, Connor does his best to honour his memory and legacy by taking up the Green Arrow mantle.

Though it's a story all-but-confirmed for the show, it's uncertain whether or not it will come into play this season or in the future.

Arrow's fourth season premieres on The CW in the US on October 7.
