This week, new sci-fi series Star Trek: Discovery enjoyed a successful launch on Netflix (outside of the US and Canada), with the show bringing back the iconic franchise and allowing viewers to venture out into the cosmos on a brand new adventure. With two episodes already under its belt, there’s still a lot to come from the show’s debut season, which has all been teased in a brand new trailer. Check it out below:
As one of the most influential and inspirational sci-fi franchises of all time, Discovery had a lot of expectation hanging on its shoulders, but with the first two episodes of the series came praise from critics and viewers alike. Embracing the same ideology that made the original series such a success, Discovery allows a new set of characters to come to the forefront, telling their individual stories in a variety of ways in a story that’s told a decade before Kirk, Spock and the Enterprise made their mark on the universe.
Starfleet Officer Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) is the series’ main focus; a determined and often stubborn Starfleet Officer, who simply wants to explore the universe and discover new things. When the Klingons make their presence known however, it’s clear that the journey she’s on is to take a sinister turn, with casualties, violence, twists and turns around every corner.
Along with the former Walking Dead actress, Discovery stars brilliant talents such as Michelle Yeoh, Jason Isaacs, Doug Jones, Shazad Latif, Anthony Rapp and Maulik Pancholy.
Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman created the show, with the series airing exclusively on CBS All Access in the United States.
Star Trek: Discovery continues every Monday on Netflix (outside of the US and Canada).
