Spencer Matthews thinks all his relationships have been "doomed" due to being convinced he'll one day marry his friend Caggie Dunlop.
As a result he believes every romance he has had since the pair first met were simply destined to go south from the very beginning.
He said: "I've always had this feeling in the back of my head that I'm going to marry Caggie, and all the relationships I've had since meeting her have been doomed in a weird way."
Spencer admits he is still in love with Caggie, but doesn't think she feels the same way, and even if she does, he doesn't think now is the right time for them to settle down.
He added to OK! magazine: "I'll always be in love with her - she was my first real love. I've always envisioned us getting married, having dogs and kids in the country, but it's never gone there. Quite frankly, I don't think she fancies me! But we are very close friends.
"We hooked up for the first time properly during the Christmas special of season two in Finland. But it's never been a question of sex with her.
"I was bordering on hassling her, telling her I loved her all the time and she rejected me so many times.
"When we did eventually have sex I thought, 'You know what, I'm going to give her some breathing space.' If anything were to happen again, I think it'd be in five six years."
