The Smoke has been axed by Sky1 after just one series.
The critically acclaimed firefighter drama - which starred Jamie Bamber and 'Broadchurch' actress Jodie Whittaker - isn't to return for a second run.
The broadcaster announced the news in a statement, which reads: "We're very proud of 'The Smoke', which played a key part in Sky1's plans to develop big scale dramas; something we will continue to do with our audience in mind.
"Unfortunately, sometimes tough decisions need to be made as to which dramas return and 'The Smoke' will not be returning for a second series.
"We would like to thank the entire creative team and cast, and everyone at Kudos."
'The Smoke' received widespread acclaim and averaged around 200,000 to 300,000 viewers over the course of its run earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Jodie has been confirmed to return for the second series of 'Broadchurch', playing the grieving mother of murdered schoolboy Danny Latimer.
The actress will be joined by her on-screen husband Andrew Buchan, David Tennant, Olivia Colman and Arthur Darvill.
New cast members in the series include Charlotte Rampling, James D'Arcy and Eve Myles.
