Sir Tom Jones doesn't acknowledge 'The X Factor' as "existing".

'The Voice' judge Sir Tom Jones has insisted he doesn't acknowledge rival TV talent show 'The X Factor' as "existing" and said they "don't compare" themselves.

The iconic singer - who is a judge on rival TV talent show 'The Voice' - has taken a shot at Simon Cowell's programme and insists it isn't even on their radar.

He told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "We don't compare ourselves, because we don't even consider 'X Factor' existing. It's just not as good as us."

The 'Delilah' hitmaker admitted he has clashed with bosses after they asked him to be "more animated" while listening to hopefuls on the show.

He explained: "The producers want the best TV, but when you're listening to somebody sing you focus on that.

"They said, 'Could you be more animated?' But you can't really be giving it all this when you're listening to what people are doing. It's about them, not about us."

Joining Tom and will.i.am on the judging panel this series are new arrivals Kylie Minogue and Ricky Wilson - and the Kaiser Chiefs singing has admitted to being in awe of his fellow mentors.

He recently said: "When I agree to do the show I was preparing myself for people to be saying, 'Ricky who?'

"Everyone kept saying to me from day one that I shouldn't apologise for being there. But that's hard when Kylie, Will and Tom are on a different level of fame to me.

"They're a rung up ... It's hard not to feel worried about whether I'm going to get swallowed up by all that. I can't compete with them."
