Sir Tom Jones is reported to have shouted "Who the f**k is that?" at Jeremy Kyle, when the host asked the mentor of The Voice to quieten down backstage.
Said to have been chatting loudly to fellow mentor Ricky Wilson, Jeremy stuck his head out of his dressing room door and asked them to keep the noise down.
Jones is reported to have then pointed at him and bellowed: "Who the f**k is that?"
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Tom and Ricky has been filming some scenes and were walking along backstage having a bit of a laugh and a joke.
"Tom's a larger-than-life character. He's got a booming voice and a very distinctive laugh.
"He was obviously making a bit of a racket and he disturbed Jeremy Kyle, who was trying to get a bit of peace and quiet backstage.
"When he opened the door, he had a foul look on his face and was obviously going to have a right go. But he was completely taken aback when he realised he was about to shout at Tom Jones."
During the incident at Manchester's Media City, the iconic singer is said to have had no idea who Jeremy was.
The source continued: "Jeremy is quite a big noise in British TV and almost everyone would know who he was. But when it comes to superstardom, he's not in the same league as Tom Jones.
"Rather than row, he turned and scuttled back into his dressing room. Tom and Ricky just carried on as though nothing happened."
