Sir Michael Parkinson says work has kept him "focused" in his bid to beat prostate cancer.
The chat show host, who revealed yesterday (07.07.13) he is undergoing intensive radiotherapy sessions in an attempt to beat the disease, is glad he has been able to think about work to keep his mind off the condition, and is hoping to head to Australia soon.
He told The Sun newspaper: "It gives you focus. I am already planning a trip to Australia and considered writing a book about my treatment, though I don't think now it is something I want to do."
Doctors expect the 78-year-old star, who has three weeks left of intensive radiotherapy, to make a full recovery.
During his treatment Michael has been thinking about the most famous interviews he has conducted throughout his career, such as when David and Victoria Beckham appeared on his chat show 'Parkinson' in 2008 and the brunette beauty revealed she calls the soccer star "Golden Balls".
Michael said: "I do wonder whether she had thought about it backstage beforehand.
"I liked them both and in particular David, but Victoria did tend to take over."
Speaking about legendary boxer Muhammad Ali - who he interviewed four times - he added: "He was the most fascinating man I have ever met."
Several stars have come out in support of Michael following his revelation, such as fellow TV icon Eamonn Holmes.
He tweeted: "Wishing the best and a speedy recovery to Sir Michael Parkinson who is undergoing treatment for Prostate cancer.Broadcast hero & inspiration (sic)"
