Sir David Jason made six series of Still Open All Hours
The BBC have confirmed there are "no plans" to make new episodes of the sitcom - which starred Sir David Jason as Granville and was a sequel to classic comedy 'Open All Hours' - after six seasons on air.
A spokesperson told the Daily Star newspaper: “There are currently no plans for new episodes of 'Still Open All Hours'.
"We’d like to thank the cast and crew for six wonderful series, which are all available to view on BBC iPlayer."
A seventh series was reportedly planned but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic before being scrapped entirely.
A spokesperson said about possible new episodes in 2020: "Discussions on future episodes are ongoing.
"The safety and wellbeing of all those involved in 'Still Open All Hours' is our number one priority, and we have been unable to film this year due to COVID-19."
The original programme starred the late, great Ronnie Barker as shopkeeper Arkwright and aired for four series from 1973 to 1985, before making a comeback in 2013.
David, 83, previously opened up on the reasons fans are still so passionate about the long running show.
Speaking just before the sixth season aired, he said: "It's just escapism. It's a vehicle to make people laugh, that's all it is.
"There's a lot of people fed up with the constant grind, and the dramas getting heavier and heavier."
The original run of the show only had 26 episodes across the four series' but the revival - which was commissioned as a result of the popularity of the 2013 one-off special - featured in 41 over six series.
David recently admitted he nearly turned down the original show because he initially felt he was "too old" to portray Granville, the nephew and errand boy of Ronnie's shopkeeper alter-ego Arkwright.
He said: "I thought I was too old to play it. Meaning that if Granville was delivering groceries at that age, would he be not as bright, maybe? That was the thing that held me back.
"But when I explained this to the director and to Ronnie B, they both understood, and said, ‘It will work. It will be alright.’ Those fears were put to rest and I just – well, we just all loved it."
