Sir David Jason says filming the 'Open All Hours' Christmas special was "emotional".
Sir David Jason has said filming the upcoming 'Open All Hours' Christmas special and returning to their old set was "emotional" but "delightful" to be back with the cast.
The iconic comedian has returned to his role as Granville in the show's first episode since 1985, and he admitted it was "delightful" to be back on the set.
He told the Daily Express newspaper's Saturday Magazine: "It was delightful working together again and also a little emotional returning to the old hunting ground.
"But once we got going, it was as if time had shrunk and only a couple of weeks had passed since we'd been there last. The shop, the street, even the props ... Nothing has changed."
The special episode is also a "homage" to the late Ronnie Barker, to starred in the original series as Granville's uncle Arkwright.
David added: "For us, this was a homage to Ronnie and there was an enormous amount of responsibility to make sure it was as entertaining as he made it."
He also refused to rule out a new series, admitting he'd be the first to sign up if the opportunity was there.
He insisted: "I'd love to do it, if it was deemed the audience wanted it. But we are living in a world of huge competition now ... We would all like to reach more viewers, but we'll never reach those dizzy heights of the 1970s."
