Sir Bruce Forsyth says he is on "borrowed time".

The TV veteran has admitted his career may be coming to an end - and after coping with his friends dying, he's "conditioning" himself so he isn't shocked by his own death.

He told The Sun newspaper: "There's no getting away from it. When I look at all my friends that have gone - Eric Sykes, Frankie Howerd, Sammy Davis Jr. - I know I'm on borrowed time.

"How I'm still here I just don't know. I don't know how, why or wherefore. But I'm not really questioning it that much. The day will come and it could be tomorrow, who knows?

"It's no good saying it's never going to come. You've got to be able to accept it. So I'm conditioning myself so it's not going to be a big surprise. It will just me, 'OK, time to go.' "

While the 85-year-old star and 'Strictly Come Dancing' host insisted he'll be "ready" when his time comes, he admitted he obviously wouldn't be pleased about it.

He added: "When the time is up I'll be ready for it. I probably won't be very happy about it. But I'll know it's time to go."
