Simon Cowell wanted Harry Hill to make musical I Can't Sing "cheekier".
The 'X Factor' musical - written by the 49-year-old comedian and co-produced by the music mogul -pokes fun at the 'X Factor' boss and former 'Spice Girl' Geri Halliwell, but Harry admits Simon quite enjoys the mockery.
Speaking at 'The Harry Hill Movie' world premiere at London's Leicester Square on last night (19.12.13), the former 'TV Burp' presenter told BANG Showbiz: "People said to me Simon would be controlling and he'll want to stop you from saying things but the reality is so far he's been nothing but supportive.
"In fact the cheekier we are about him the more he seems to like us.
"I never go into things half-heartedly, I just get full of enthusiasm and think, 'Lets do this,' and then after that I kind of sit back and think, 'Whatever.' "
Cynthia Erivo, who plays leading lady Chenice in 'I Can't Sing', admits she was also surprised by Simon because he was nothing like she thought he would be and was thrilled when he praised her singing.
She said: "He surprised me because one, he's just a really charming, gentle man. He was quite disarming. And it was really sweet he really enjoyed the main song.
"He's not scary at all. Not at all. I think he's just really straight forward about things that he likes.
"When we finished doing the press call and we had gone upstairs for a little bit, we had a natter and he really enjoyed the song and he said I could sing which is great!"
Other stars of the movie who walked the red carpet included Julie Walters, Sheridan Smith and Jim Broadbent.
