Sheridan Smith is set to be a judge on the new 'Stars in Their Eyes' reboot.
The 39-year-old actress is expected to be part of the panel on ITV programme 'Starstruck', which is set to start shooting next year following coronavirus pandemic-enforced delays.
A TV insider said: "'Starstruck' is a new take on telly classic 'Stars in Their Eyes' and will see the public living out their dreams on stage as their idols.
"The show was supposed to get moving this year, but the pandemic delayed everything.
"Now it’s back on track and the plan is to get it on air next autumn.
"Sheridan is the perfect fit for the show as one of the judges."
The star's role is expected to critique the acts - who impersonate a celebrity singer on the programme - and to also give them advice.
Sheridan is no stranger to singing on TV herself, after she played music legend Cilla Black in ITV miniseries 'Cilla'.
The insider added to The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "Everyone working on the show is really excited.
"Casting has begun and Sheridan is itching to get started."
One of Sheridan's latest roles saw her appear in ITV's coronavirus lockdown drama 'Isolation Stories'.
The 'Mrs Biggs' actress starred in 'Mel' - written by Gaby Chiappe and directed by Paul Whittington - about a heavily pregnant woman who gives birth without the married father as he is self-isolating with his wife and children.
She said of the project: "I am heavily pregnant and have been isolating at home so I jumped at the chance to make a drama about the massive drama going on all around us right now.
"I think it's really important to try and reflect what's happening to us whilst it is still actually happening."
