Sheree Murphy still gets asked if she is returning to 'Emmerdale' - despite her character being dead for the last 17 years.
The 45-year-old actress portrayed Tricia Dingle on the ITV soap from 1998 to 2004 when she was killed off, and some fans mistakenly still think she is part of the cast.
She said: "You'd be in the supermarket and people come up and say, 'Hello, Tricia,' and I just say hello back. Because they don't know you as a person.
"Some actors get a bit snobby about, 'That's my character, that's not my name.'
"But I didn't care. You're in their living rooms five nights a week, they know you as that character. I used to love it.
"I left 'Emmerdale' about 17 years ago and people still say, 'Ooh I love Tricia, is she coming back?'
"And I'm like, 'Sadly not, because she did die under the Woolpack.'
"But people still remember her, which I think is amazing. You have a massive impact on people's lives."
Tricia died when a devastating storm hit the Emmerdale village, resulting in a bolt of lightning striking the Woolpack pub, sending a window crashing down on her.
But the star - who has also worked on 'Hollyoaks' and 'Neighbours' - has fond memories of her time in the Dales.
When asked what the best soap to work on was, she told BBC Radio Leeds: "They were all fab, but probably 'Emmerdale'.
"I was only 23 when I got the role, it kind of changed my life. I met my husband in Leeds.
"Equally, I loved working on all of them and I've made so many lovely friends on each of them.
"So I feel very lucky."
