Shayne Ward is reportedly being lined up for 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!'
The 'Coronation Street' actor stunned the nation last week when he bowed out of the long-running soap as Aidan Connor after the factory boss took his own life following a secret battle with depression and, although he is keen to spread his wings and bag a new role on screen, the 33-year-old star could be persuaded to slip into jungle gear.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Shayne has built up a huge and loyal fan base at 'Corrie' and his exit storyline has been talked about up and down the country.
"But behind the scenes he's also considered one of the nicest men in soap with a quirky sense of humour that would work well in the jungle camp. We think he's an obvious choice for the new series as he ticks a lot of boxes.
"It would also give him a chance of letting fans get to know him a bit more as he continues his career away from Weatherfield."
However, the hunk may decide to leave the creepy-crawly show this year and focus on landing his next big acting gig now that he's in high-demand following his impressive portrayal of Aidan's heartbreaking battle with the mental health illness.
Despite the praise he's got from the cast, fellow actors and the viewers, Shayne - who played Aidan for three years - found the storyline really hard to portray.
He explained recently: "Some or all of you may have had some experience of knowing someone in your family or known a friend or hearing of someone that may have taken their own life. In my own personal experience I've had people in my family attempt suicide and also someone unfortunately took their own life. So for me I just drew upon an honest truth of how would I feel in that situation. One thing I knew is that if I did it with honesty and truth then it will portray on the screen."
